India

Namaste!

I lived in India from March 2012 to February 2013 as a volunteer for Voluntary Service Overseas (VSO) and Youth for Unity and Voluntary Action in the western state of Maharashtra. I never denied that one of the reasons why I decided to volunteer was because of my love and passion for travel. So, as I am in one of the biggest countries of the world anyway, I took (am taking) time from the daily woes and challenges of volunteer life to explore India’s colorful culture and heritage, taking in the great with the not-so-great.

The Taj Mahal
The Taj Mahal, probably the most photographed monument in India (Agra, Uttar Pradesh, North India)

It has been an awesome adventure and, as I know that to a lot of my kababayans, knowledge of India is limited to the Taj Mahal, the turbaned Bumbay in the markets, yoga, and the films Slumdog Millionaire Eat Pray Love, and Three Idiots (these are the things I knew before coming to India), I wish to share a year of my life in India!

Chalo, chale!
