The Diarist

Welcome, wanderer!

profileI am Geralyn Rigor, a Filipina development worker / freelance writer / weblog developer / travel blogger currently living in Quezon City, Metro Manila, Philippines. I grew up in Victoria, Tarlac — a place I call the center of Central Luzon.

I took BS Development Communication at University of the Philippines Los Baños without knowing what will happen to me after. Fortunately for me, after spending my early working years in the BPO industry and mainstream media, I have found a career path which not only makes use of what I learned but also allows me to help other people. Plus, I get to travel free! I used to travel a lot domestically for my work on agriculture and rural development. As it’s not the same TOR for me these days, I just make sure to do leisure traveling whenever time and money permits me. Together with friends, most of which from CouchSurfing and some colleagues, I organize Weekend Escapes, which is practically a weekend away from the urban jungle, at least once a month.

Guardian of the Sea - Burot Beach, Calatagan, Batangas, Philippines (photo by Gabby Kakilala)I am basically a “tourist”–taking photos, going to usual attractions, doing the popular activities and the likes. Every now and then, I become a “traveler”–soaking in the culture, feeling the social vibe, taking the off-the-beaten-track and other stuff I haven’t really done in the past.  I lived in India for almost a year and had some really amazing experiences. I am also an active CouchSurfer, both as host and surfer but more importantly, as part of your “Mabuhay! #it’smorefuninthephilippines” committee!

The purpose of this blog is not only to serve as a platform for me to share my stories and to “preserve” the memories but also to encourage people, especially Filipinos, to explore our country and conquer the world. So, if you have any questions not answered by my blog or Google, ask me and I’ll try my best to help you.

DSC_0707_thumb.jpgThank you for taking the time to get to know me and I hope you’ll have a great time armchair traveling with me. I am looking forward to the day you take the leap of faith to explore and discover the world and perhaps, even take a journey with me.

Happy wandering,

Gera

    1. Thanks Marj! Ok din kasi tong Oxygen. malinis tingnan and parang professional ang dating. hihihi. Pabago-bago din ako ng theme pag na-tripan. Lalo’t andaming bago ngaun!

  1. HELP! I think I started following after I saw a photo you took some Phillipino women in costume…they were older women…80+ years of age. If it’s one of yours, please let me know where I can find it. I’m currently in a rehabilitation facility and one of the rehab people I am working with is from the Phillipines. I told her about it but can’t find it anywhere. Normally, I would have captured it via Pinterest but can’t find it there.

    1. Hi. Uhm, you would have to give me more information about the picture. Like what are they wearing, was there an accompanying story and such. Otherwise, I also don’t have any idea what you’re talking about.

      1. Doesn’t matter if you’re a newbie or not as long as you believe in the couchsurfing spirit. 🙂 click on the couchsurfing Philippines logo on the blog (left side if you’re using desktop) and that will redirect you to my page. 🙂

  2. HI E! I’m looking for informations about mumbai over the ineternet which lead me to your blog. I’d like to know if there’s any way I can get in touch with you. I have some questions regarding the place. Thanks. Namaste
